Well here we go. I have the above amp in my mobile and I did not turn it off. I turned off the radio but not the amp. That same evening I fired up my base radio that swings around 400 with my mobile parked out side. Now since the amp in the mobile is on and when I keyed my base radio did the base siginal burn out the mobile amp? I opened it up and it smelled burnt. Diode D4 is blown apart which is 1N4004. Is this a protection diode to portec the amp from being over dreven on the recive side? I am going to replace it and see if the amp still works. Also can i install some filter caps on the pills to help filter out the harmonics. If so what values should I use and where should I make the connections Emitter to Base, Base to Colllector, Ect.... Thank you for all your help. |
