Since i dont have the room in my truck for an amp i am thinking of getting a rci ranger 2970 dx or a cobra 200 or a galaxy 95t.what one of these radio really does 100 watts on side band?and will any of the 3 do more then 100 watts or no?I also want to know if the 2970 comes with an unlocked clarfier when i buy it or not since i talk sideband most of the time.does the 2970 get all the 10khz ferquencys like the galaxy and cobra or no?my guess is the 2970 is the better radio out of these 3 what do you think?Oh I also want to know how high and low these three radios go after there converted.thanks

--Hi. The RCI 2970DX will indeed do 100+ watts on SSB, and once Copper Electronics modifies it, the continuous frequency coverage will be from 24-32 Mhz. In fact, the Ranger USA website reads that the radio power goes from 2 to 150 watts.

--There are two displays on the 2970DX - the regular "CB" type display, which shows CH 1,CH 2,CH 3, CH 3A, CH 4, CH 5, CH 6, CH 7, CH 7A, etc. with the "A" channels being the "10khz" channels. OR, it has the other display that shows the actual frequency. While in the frequency display, there is a cursor that is displayed underneath the digit. For instance, if you are on 27.0550 and want to go to 26.0550, just move the cursor underneath the second digit (the 7), and then move the channel selector counter clockwise once. By using the cursor, you can move in multiples of 1 Mhz, 100khz, 10khz, 1khz, or a tenth of a khz (.1) If you want to get on a frequency like 27.237.2, you can. I have the 2950DX and the clarifier is definitely locked (at least on mine).

Freebird, You may want to hold out for the S-9 80 watt or the S-9 175 watt! Could be out anytime. These bigger watt Magnums have got everyone drooling.

The 2950dx & 2970dx DON'T have unlocked
clarifiers stock from the factory. as far as I know only S9 & 200gtl come with clarifiers unlocked stock. The 200gtl will only do about
150 pep and you have to make sure the power
wires are not to long and have good connections
or anything above 150 pep on ssb will have a voltage drop and make your radio drift off frequency on transmit. this is only my experience
with the 200gtl.
