Someone gave me a Maco 104C. Before going up with this antenna is there anything I should ck out on this thing besides rusty u bolts. Should I ck out the gamma match? If so what should I do to ck it out? Should I put ox gard on the tubing where it slides together? Are there any other tips or tricks that someone may have with regards to installation of a beam?

If you have the directions, it will say
about putting rope inside the elements.
This is a good idea. Just check everything
over and use your good judgement.
If mounting Verticle make sure bottom
radials ends are left open for draining.
Well, thinking about it, you live in Florida
so i doubt water would freeze in them...LOL
Ox-Guard can be used if you wish. Makes taking
radials apart years from now easier.
Lightly sand the radials if you wish to
remove oxidation. Make sure all connections
are tight ect. Try it on the ground first if
you wish to make sure it's working proper. |

I have instructions, I will get some rope. The rope is for stopping the humming when the wind blows, right? I will also give the scotch brite a try, I have used it before and I have plenty of ox-gard,

From the MACO Assembly Instruction's:
TIP FOR INCREASING ANTENNA LIFE
Vibrations in your antenna due to light winds will cause the elements to sing and hardin. If the elements over-hardin, they will become brittle and crack. For a longer antenna life we highly recomend the use of 1/4" or 5/16" plastic rope thru the entire length of the element's.

i run mu M104C without the rope inside it but i did add a smaller piece of pipe inside the boom
with a bolt on one end but i also added a vert side to it 4 on the flat side and 3 on the vert side ! LOL dont laugh it works !
on the gama keep the conections clean and there should be no problem !
