Anyone know where I can find some info on this radio for "tune up" purposes? I had a guy I work with come to me wanting me to do what I can to help his little radio out a bit. He feels iddy biddy when I am on the air with the Galaxy 959...haha

Hey Canon!, I bought a Cobra 19 for a friend to get started and wanted to beef it up. I could not find any info on it on the web. Hers what I did if I can remember right.
There is basically hardley anything in that radio at all and not much you can do to actually get any real noticable power out.
I opened it up and found 3 variable pots next to each other in a row dead center on the board. One is sqeulch one is the rf meter and the other is an rf output or modulation. They are labeled so its easy to know which is which. Just turn up the one that is the ouput as far as it will go and get a radio check. I got a watt or 2 more out of it. I don't think any major mods are really worth the time for such a cheap radio. Might try a power mic and bigger antenna but if he really wants to make an improvment just tell him to buy a small amp. Thats what I would do. It should drive a little RM 1 or 2 pill ok.
