Does anyone have any experience with Signal Engineering antennas? If so, could you write your opinion of them.

The Question that was asked is:
Does anyone have any experience with Signal Engineering antennas? If so, could you write your opinion of them.
Several submitted post's have had to be refused because THEY did not address the Topic or Question that was asked.
Please address the Question and ONLY post your OWN 1st Hand Experience with the product.

Well I'll give this a shot.
I've owened a Lightening +4 from SE. Great antenna, hard assymbly or at least for me it was  Held up good in our winter weather, unlike Lons. Antenna had awesome recieve and awesome transmitting figures. Just took up too much room at the time for what i needed. Hated to sell it. |

Ok I'll give a little follow up here.
When I sold my +4 it went a bit more down the road south from me, to Soldotna Alaska. That was ohhh 3 years ago. The guys still running it and booming here into Anchorage with no problems. He's still had zero problems with it.
The pics of Lons, wow, i would have freaked out to come out and see my antenna frozen like that.
lol maybe our Alaskan winters aren't so bad after all |

I bought a SE +4 beam last year and quality
was poor. Performance was very good. Sold it!
Not worth the money!
Hopefully, they did improve them recently. |

I bought and use the Thunder8 antenna from them. While it worked it was good. The thing was too heavy and flimsy for the little bit of gain you would get in a bi-directional and way, way overpriced. I really liked the old Superscanner antenna much better. I had to play with the new Thunder8 for awhile before I could finally make up my mind on this. You know how it is getting excited over a new product.

i own a lightning4+ and the only thing i am unhappy about is that i did not buy one a long time ago. true the hardware is a little cheap but i replaced it with stainless stuff. directions can be a little confusing but just follow them closely step by step and don't get a head of them i know how it is guys some times about using directions but step X step you will be fine. as far as rejection fantastic, transmit wise i truly out talk my old Y quads by far as well as the shooting stars i have had in the past. Dxing is great internationl Dx with no problem hear them you will talk to them. also being that sig engeneering does true quads not quad yagi so you don't have to go over 40' for great results. workmanship on the materials could be a little better if i lived where there were harsh winters with a lot of ice i would stay straight yagi. a little pricey they are but i think well worth it. you won't go wrong with SIGNAL ENGINERRING antennas. |
