I ordered this beam last friday and it came in on tueday afternoon.

I have a pic posted in the members pic area also.

I mounted it on the H Side and WOW what a differents it is from a V side of a ground plane.

Now I have never owned a beam antenna before so it's all new to me.

After unpacking the antenna and going over the lay out a couple few times making sure in my mind I understood just what I was doing,

I found that the only thing I had to measure was the gamma match as the rest of the 4 elements are pre-drill for the set screws

Altogether it took me by myself to put it together about an Hr.

My biggest thing that kept going though my head was "OH GEZZ i'm going to have a time getting a good swr match" but not at all.

Now after I use this beam for a few months I'll give my Pro's and Con's.

So far I like!

Now to make some CEF Contacts with it and see just how well the H (flat side) of beams really work.

Hi:
I just bought one too,2 weeks ago and delivered only 3 days later, very fast shipping, from KY to AZ.
Anyway,I'm studiying the Antenna because I'm going to modify it to SE 4 Element Freeband Design,Center Frec. 27.555 Mhz.
This new design was optimized with computer programs, for better rejection and very flat SWR over wideband, not narrow as factory design.
The Boom is just the perfect lenght for this new design and after measured only needs 1/4 "Inch. to be trim on the Boom, could not get better!!!

I talked to another friend of mine who did this to a Maco 104C and he really walks all over with this new design from SE(Signal Engineering).
If you need to move the position of the elements, just take and allen wrench and unscrew the security hex bolt to move the elements brackets.
Also this design made the elements a little bit shorted than factory, just drill new holes.
Very easy to acomplish,I might put it together Sunday early morning and try to join the Sunday net.

Tecnicoloco

Thank you very much on your input of the beam antenna.
I'm still in need of a dx contact to know and see just how well it does.
Local it's been a great 4 element beam.

Howdy George:
No problem,I believe is a good antenna, not built like the Maco 104C,but price is cheap too, also is very lightweight compare to the Maco.
You could easily move the Antenna around with a TV Rotor(Rat Shack,Channel Master,Winegard,etc..) and a Trust Bearing (TB-105 Support Bearing) if you want extra strenght and have most of the weight on the Trust Bearing and not on the Rotor.
I live in Mexico by the ocean an corrosion is to bad with antennas,I'm using some Stuff call "Noalox"in all the Antenna Joints, supose to stop corrosion betewen diferent metals, like aluminium, copper, die cast and steel,is recomended to use just a little bit or get's messy.

My 2 Pesos.

George, nice looking beam you have over there hope to hear you on the beam in the near future, although we may have to wait for cycle 24 before we have any real good DX conditions again.

Hi all:
Well, after doing major surgery to the antenna, replaced all the 1/2 inch. OD aluminum for longer pipes I achieve a very good match on 27.555Mhz. my target frecuency.
will go down to 27.205 with 1.5.1 swr and 27.855 1.7.1 swr. is nice and little more broadbanded than original design.
Finally, yesterday I finish completelly the antenna asemble with new tubing, noalox in the joints, black tape around joints and 5 cans of acrylic clear coat paint, then to DX Land, many contacts to South of Mexico,California,Oregon,Washington,Colorado,etc... just to name a few,and all with good to excellent reports, some stations came in with 25 to 30 over 9 and held up 20 to 25 minutes QSO's.
Now let's wait for the next sunday net to say hello on channel 13.

The last 2 Pesos from my savings!!!
