Do these radios suffer from the same SSB drift that it's 10m export brothers do?

I once owned a 959 to mofify and play around with and it did'nt drift anymore than any other type accepted cb. The biggest problem I had with it was the SSB recieve sensitivity and audio qaulity. Of all the standard cb radios out there if I had to go type approved I would buy Galaxy first.

It looks to be equivelent to or maybe a replacement for the dx-949,in a smaller package.I have a dx-2547 and a dx-959,although both share the same mainboard they are as different as night and day. While the 959 has no noticable drift the 2547 on lsb acts more like the Mary Celeste.Paraphrasing a line from Kenny,of all the standard cb radios out there if I had to go type accepted I would buy ????????????????????

Tech291, I most certainly would. Well besides the Ranger 900 series. Can't say I care much for the Rangers after owning one but the build qaulity is not bad. The new Cobras? I have used 4 different 148's. 3 of them just totally started screwing up and the one that has never messed up sits on a shelf. Not many left besides Midland Maxon and Uniden but they have no SSB. No doubt if I wanted AM only I would go Uniden. If I was not a very serious SSB operator and just wanted type approved I would go Galaxy. The mods that can be done to those Galaxys are so freakin easy if you decide to expand its frq range. Unlock the clarifier...easy. Just really fun radios to have and I wish I never sold the 959 I once had.
