I bought this handy piece of equipment for radio work. I think it's the most I've smiled. It makes adjusting SWR even easier than it was. All you do is hook this little gadget up, adjust to the desired freq., press SWR and and it tells ya what it is. The great thing is, it has 11 other functions. I was playing with it and hooked a jumper up which was 50 ohm coax and it was actually 54. I go out to my Jeep on the two skip shooters that I have co-phased and disconnect the 259 at the antenna adjust to the freq and it told me what my SWR was. I had already tuned these antennas the traditional method, now I'm going to re-tune using this device. This was the best purchase I've made in a long time.

That was suppose to be a secret, can't make money if everyone is a radio tech.
Since hardly no locals come out here I will tell. It made by Autek Research here in Florida and it was the VA1. They have a web site. It is the same old fella who makes the Autek Research computing SWR/watt meter. This meter is very accurate, probably as accurate as that high priced dead bird meter. AS long as you are keyed with this meter it gives you SWR. There is no calibration with this meter. It also gives you peak and rms watt readings. Lon/Tech 808 can test to the accuracy and quality of this meter. Oh also the watt meter has a remote head unit so the big heavy cables won't be pulling your meter off the table/desk.
The analyser fits in my hand. It is very easy to use, turn it on, adjust to desired freq., hit SWR and there it is. Wham, Bam, Thank You Mam!

I was thinking of getting a autek anilizer but was hoping to hear about them first. thanks for the info wildrat and if I decide to stay with this hobby I will get one.

Analyzers can be nice. I have a MFJ i got
recently. Good luck Roger on deciding about
your hobbies. Remember correct height of
antenna and enough power makes a big difference
in making contacts.
