I'm wondering is there any type of filters to filter out static from a base radio? I'm running a Galaxy DX2547, and a TopOne Astroplane. There is major power lines running along the road in front of my house. But the static I'm getting comes and goes. Theres a concrete plant withing sight of me and I think thats the source of the interference. It's really bad at times, sometimes topping S9 on the meter. Any suggestions??? |

Get hold of book called EMI Handbook (mine is packed somewhere) - this is one pof the many situations it deals with. |

need to find out what the static comes from.
could it be bleedover from another channel?
you might be surprised how much a radio on ch.19 can bleed all the way up to ch.40, and sound just like static that comes and goes.
try shutting off and unplugging EVERYTHING in the house that you suspect might be a noise producing source. my electric razor charger drives my radios crazy.
plug them back in one by one to find out if its coming from your house.
grounding is your friend here. try to get some ground rods in the ground for your station.
