I just got this radio and had to have it fixed right from the get go. Then I get it home and start useing it to discovery this problem. It does not happen every time you TX but it is easy to replicate. To get the recive audio back you have to key the mic several times quickly and it comes back on. Could it be the relay in the radio?? Any ideas are apreaciated!!!The radio has realy sensitive recieve and great transmit audio so I want to fix this if I can. |

Have you tried a different mic? Make sure all your connections are good in the mic and the connector is not dirty. |

Hotwire I have not tried a different mike. I doubt though that it would be the mic and I will tell you why. This radio is old enough that the RX audio does not pass through the 4 pin socket. It's recieve is like an amature rig and works with the mic off of the radio. Modern CB radio's must not have recieve audio if the mic is disconected. I was going to try another mic though just to see and it left with my dad. He is a trucker so I was going to use his mic. This is the only radio I own wired for 4 pin cobra so I do not have any spare mics sitting around. |

oh yeah, try the relay first.
i think its in a socket so you can just pull it out.
clean all the contacts, or get another relay.
they shouldnt be too hard to come by.

I had that problem with my Elite 250 and my Emperor...it was from RF getting into the box and keeping the transmit relay keyed.My fix was making a balun in the coax(6-8 turns 5"around taped)where it entered the vehicle.Also I used a 3 foot jumper to amp and made a balun with it as well.Now no more RF in vehicle and amp unkeys immediately all the time.Ya,I suspect you got stray RF floating around causing problems.Use the balun trick...works every time |
