THE WILSON 1000 ON WIFE,S CAR LACKS ABOUT 2" CLEARING GARAGE DOOR . INSTEAD OF PUTTING A SHORTER ANTENNA ON , WOULD IT HURT ANYTHING TO BEND LIKE A Z CLOSE TO TOP OF STINGER TO GET CLEARANCE ? |

I can't remember the name right off but I'll help do a google search, there is a smaller stringer with a center load that works just as will as the normal stringer that fits the Wilson 1000 base..
I'll post the name and maybe even a picture of it if I find it again.
Do a google search..type in Wilson 1000 center load and it's the 1st one on the list.

It is a Short Center Loaded Adapter that adapts to the Wilson 500 and all models of the Wilson 1000, 5000, Trucker 2000 and the Trucker 5000

Designed for maximum efficiency, it is only 3ft short and replaces the 62" whip that is standard for the Wilson 1000 and the Wilson 5000.
It will also replace the 49" whip that is standard on the Trucker 2000 & 5000 for those drivers concerned about their height restrictions.
The band width will still be wide enough for most uses - 1-1.2 MHz, and the power handling is a strong 500 watts.

To answer your original question...NO, I don't believe it would hurt but I'd probably consider just bending back the top 8" inches or so from the tip till you achieve the desired clearance....might look a bit cleaner.
I've seen some pretty damaged antenna's out there on roofs...all seem to do the job just as well as new. |
