I advise you to install a 2sc-1969. You can find them on your internet search engine under key word 2sc-1969. I just did, they range from $7.50 to about $12.00. Now on the resistor. I think
what you are referring to might be a bias resistor that cuts down the current flow to the transistor when it gets hot. sometimes when the final goes bad so does the resistor. most radios
use a 22 ohm 1/4 or 1/2 watt resistor and some times you might see a tiny small ferride round bead on one of the legs. Its been a long time since I did any work on cb radios, but this is what I recall.
hope this helps.

Panda bear, Not as a direct replacement! you will have to do some modifications. I don't know if it would work in a cobra 25. Also if all you wanted to do is get your radio running again, I would use the 2sc-2166 or 2sc-2078 this would minimize your down time of your radio and have less problems. Modifications can go wrong or at best don't give you the results you were looking for or exacerbate your problems even more. NOTE I made a mistake in my other post. you should not use a 2sc-1969 in a cobra 25, the correct replacement is 2sc-2166 or 2sc-2078.
The 1969 draws more current from what I remember.
Remember to assemble the final with it's hardware
washers and spacers correctly and use heat sink
compound. Don't forget to replace that resistor.
Good Luck..
