My question is on Coppers base ant. page they advertise the SOLARCON I-MAX-99 1/2 WAVE ,yet it's no longer available,it states the entire antenna radiates. Is this true for the Imax 2000 also? And if so why is it so important to get the feedpoint to 36 feet? My inquiring mind is searching for a answer. I've always been told the only stupid question was the one that went unasked.

Yes, the entire Imax 2000 radiates.

The reason you want the feedpoint up higher is because it improves the take-off angle. In other words, it keeps more signal down near the ground instead of sending up in the clouds.

SOLARCON I-MAX-99 1/2 WAVE ,yet it's no longer available I have no idea about that.

why is it so important to get the feedpoint to 36 feet?

36 feet is one wavelength
72 feet is another

thats why its So important to get it at least to the frist 36 feet and then to 72 feet if you want another wavelength.
Just the Radio Wave Pattern work.

Biskybabyusa,

If the TIP of your IMAX 2000 is at 50' this means the Bottom/FEEDPOINT is ONLY 26' from the ground.

So you would need to raise it another 10' to have the FEEDPOINT at 36' or 1 wave length since the IMAX is 24' long.

On the IMAX 2000 it is measured to the BASE or (LOAD) of the antenna NOT the tip of the antenna.

Hope this help's,

Raising mine to 36'+ made a BIG difference! I was at 20-25' and had all sorts of isues. The new tower, same coax (left slack), same antenna, same rig, performed MUCH better when it crossed the magic 36' mark. And not just receive/transmit performance.

Another 11 ft up and it will be at 1 wavelength.
