I am having an issue with my radio that I don't understand. I key up and it is very loud and it squeals until I either yell into the microphone or turn the mic gain down.

It also will switch from louder to softer on and off through my transmitions in modulation while I am speaking into it. If I just drop a dead carrier it won't change from loud to softer modulation.

I have tried several microphones and I get the dame results from all of them. I have had the radio for three years and It has always done this.

My bet is some "fly-by-night" radio tech has clipped and dipped and tripped your radio out. Find yourself a good repairman and have your radio restored to factory specs. You CAN tune a radio for maximum output without clipping this and that and some of those other worthless modifications done by "radio hackers" and "wanna-be" cb shops.
