i have a cobra 18 wx st ll that has no audio it keys up good and receives great just has no audio anyone had this problem out of these and if so what was the cause and fix for it.

1. Is this transmit only, receive only or both? I assume it is receive only.

Check your speaker connections and the extension speaker jack. A wire may have come loose or the jack has lost the spring tension that keeps two of the contacts closed. If using the internal speaker it needs these contacts to be closed in order for the speaker to receive audio.

If you are using internal speaker trying plugging an extension speaker in and see if this fixes the problem. If it does then the problem is either the jack or the speaker has died. If not, the problem is then a tad more serious and may warrant a trip to the radio doctors.

hello tech 237
no it's transmit the receive is fine everything works grest just no modulation i have tryed 3 different mics that all work on other radios and nothing on the 18 i also changed the KIA7217ap and that did not help so now i'm back to square 1. what part is the audio amp in this radio?
