Let me make a comment on the Anttron 2/6 meter antenna...
I ordered one for a friend who doesn't have internet, and put it up for him.
It works great for him.
I was impressed with the antenna's operation on both 2 & 6 meters. It is simple to assemble and reasonably priced.
Nice antenna for getting you on 6 meters while having 2 meters also. |

wrk3 Yes i have Anttron 2/6 meter ground plane ,It works great!
I can hit repeaters 100 miles at 65 watts out, and just recently a repeater 300 miles away (conditions was just right).(2meter fm)
Now this is where it gets fun: Iv logged 58 contacts on the 6 meter ssb at 9 watts out.(again it all about conditions). Also this is 1/4 wave on 6 meter and vertical. And was qsl with the big guns running 100-500 watts out, and big 6 meter horizontal beams.
One Qso that i had in 4 land one night (South Carolina) He was running 300 watts out into a 8 element beam,His signal 5x9x10. He ask what i was running? ( 9 watts out and a Anntron 2/6 vertical)! (This is his quote)-(You are kidding me right? I have you at 5x9x25 - Iv got $2500 invested just on 6 meter band radio and antenna set up! what im doing wrong?)WE had a qso for 18 min then conditions went by by. 6 meter is called the magic band.also Its all about conditions and a good antenna - but 6 meter is a little different anywayThis my 2006 log.
Yes you cant go wrong with the Anttron 2/6 gp base antenna for that price it cant be beat...
Also i run lmr400 coax only 50 foot from radio to antenna. Its better to have the antenna high in the air, Mine is 38 foot from the ground.Doint put rg58 inline to much loss.also account for patch cords also!
If your going to run more than 50' feet i would suggest coax like the Altelicon CA-400 400 Series Cable 50MHz - (2.9@100m / 0.9@100ft) - 2.60KW that Copper carries.

It has the exact same specifications as LMR 400 but a LOT LESSS Money per foot than LMR.
You will be impressed with this antenna ! I shur you will love it.I thought about putting it up on the tower, that means 30'feet more coax,but im going to leave it alone. if it works doint bother to fix it!.yes COPPER has them

It should be unity on 6 meters. Don't let that worry you many on this forum remember when I cut down a skylab from 11 to 6 meters and worked all over the country with it and it had the same gain.
When 6 is open it dosn't take much to work DX.
This last year I worked 2 guys CARRING FT-817 radios to their cars with wips sticking out the back ... both were more than 1,000 miles away.
But my BEST story was in the late 70's when the band was open to Ohio and they were 40+ on the FT-620 meter and one was only a S "6" but kept calling me. FINALY He was readable and I went back to him with the comment " Your only S "6" everyone else is 40+ BAM !!!!! My meter hit the peg " Is this better ? " YES! what did you do?
" Well he said it seems to make a diffrence switching from the CANTENNA to the beam" !
