This one has a name, called "NPC/RC".

Pretty sure your NON-DX 2990 has that board. Diagram should be right.

Be sure to listen to the radio yourself, BOTH before and after trying it.

This mod is for wattmeter worshippers. Folks who think that it's "'Nother Watt, 'Nother mile!" Makes the meter twitch upwards in a pleasing sort of way.

But if you listen to the radio before, and then after you install it, be sure to also try it with whatever amplifier may be in line with the radio.

Once you hear what your amplifier sounds like with this mod, you'll pull it back out, most likely.

If you like to talk to the wattmeter, this one is for you. If what you want is to be understood when you talk, especially out in the distance, it won't look quite so attractive.

I understand. The problem is I am not sure where this area is on the board.

not sure about the 2990 but It will work on the first two generations of the 2950&2970 non Dx modeles. The lacation is onderside of the B754.It will give you full swing at no mater what the dead key is.Has been in my 2950 for 8 years so it will hold up.
