how accurate do the built-in swr meters tend to be??...in my case an old(non dx)rci2970??...I know all meters tend to be a little diff, but I have two others..dosy and astatic..they read diff from the radio one, not a lot, but noticeable...(radio says 1.2:1avg, dosy 1.4, astatic is kinda erratic)...I Want to believe the ranger cuz it's lowest naturally, I just wondered if they tend to be accurate or not...if nothing else, this might be a good topic to get going |

adjust your antenna so the 'highest' reading meter shows 1.1:1. the others should not even move the needle & you'll know you're good!
how accurate are ANY meters? unless you had the $$ & knew who to send an external meter to, to have it calibrated, you're nothing more then 'hoping' it's accurate. if you are 'hearing' what you think you should be hearing, & 'talking' as far as you think you should be, then the guess is that the swr's are 'good'. if they were all in the red, or all in the 2's, then you probably have a problem. |

what I thought, just wanted to see if the built-in ones, esp. my 2970 were prone to problems or if they were generally ok...rci is kinda proud of the "no need to calibrate" swr circuits, as are others that have it, so it Should be pretty accurate |
