I understand meter movement.I understand amplification theory.I understand linear&non-linear amplifiers.Except for code I can pass an extra class test.I have a mental block which prevents me understanding it.Code that is. |

Swing is a supposed to be Linear Slope that is Not Linear and it makes a meter movement dance to the right...Looks great and people buy it...

I have a rad.shack digital swr/watt meter ,very quick ,avg.&peak reading.On am I only get a 50% swing with modulation. |

digital radio shack meter doesnt or should i say cant swing as fast as a meter movement can with a needle. i have the radio shack one as you describe as well as others. what you really see is the rms swing on it . it really doesnt show peak swing. digital rad shack meter just wont show that for you been there tried that. but it does light up nice doesnt it!!! love that instant swr reading when you key it up. good luck. |

i'm going to be in the market for a good set of meters myself. what type would be best. price isn't as much of a concern, as is the performance, looks, and i need it to be lighted. 73 |

I read an article by lou franklin that much of the meter movement in an undampend meter was due to the inertia in the armature of the meter.So regardless the only true way to determin peak-power is with an oscilliscope. |
