i have a cobra 142gtl and i was watching tv and this poped into my head.ok you know that cobra 142 radio does not have a varible resister for modulation just a resister to clip.would it change the modulation if i put a resister with a smaller value instead of so called clipping,that would be all together a better way to do it,but i dont really no what resistance to use,and i put varible power in my 29ltd and it seems to work great, i used a 100ohm resister and a 220uf 16 volt capasitor.will this have any effect on my modulation like make it louder or even muffled.i just wanted your opinion on the varible power mod. thanks |

Jyd: I don't really see why that wouldn't work, of course if the resistance is lower then it will resist less (hence) push through more modulation.
I would try finding what the original resistor value is the step down 20 ohms at a time to see if it makes a difference of course there will need to be at leat 200 ohms or it would be as if it weren't even there. as far as the 29ltd if it works then I don't see a problem and I think that it probly did raise the audio seeing as how the power has increased and this will let out more audio, or at least it should I would think.
