1:Does the the amplifier chip in a power mic use
a transistor or an amplifying ic chip? 2:What does radio shack do to their radios to keep you from modifying them? Those are a couple of things I've just been wondering about and they were gonna drive me crazy until I found out.:P thanks

They use a Surface Mount transistors and can be disabled IF you can find the one for the ALC. I have disabled some RS radios but it is not easy..

1) Most amplified mics use a pair of transistors in the amp circuit. They use I.C.s for echo and effects. 2) If you mean frequency expansion modifications, it depends on the PLL chip used in most of todays CBs- they simply don't alow easy modification any more. As far as other mods like modulation and power, I'm sure they can still be done to Rat-Shack rigs.
