Scenario:
Mack tri-axel truck,
Connex 4600, Wilson 2000 trucker ant, Belden RG8X, Astatic 636L mic, SWR's measured on 2 different meters in case one was off. Both were 1.2
Power cord direct to batteries.... PROBLEM: I get a low grade elec. shock to my lip from the mic screen when talking. Why and how do I fix it? I know it's not this specific radio because it happens on my Connex 3300 and my Cobra 29 too in the same truck.. Thanks Guys... Bob |

it has to do with different ground potentials i think.
unless that truck has some weird electrical system in it
my guess is that you have the radio chassis mounted to a spot that is not grounded to the battery's negative termainal, and the difference in ground potentials between the PC board ground, and chassis ground are causing the bite.
make sure all the metal framing and body paneling are grounded togther with grounding straps, and also that the batteries have a big honkin' wire going right to the frame.
i bet this problem only shows itself in this truck.

I had mic bite on my mobile and base. It all has to do with grounding. Ground everything.
On my mobile the problem was the ground wire I had going to the antenna. The wire went across a hinge on the tailgate pf my Jeep. Opening and closing the gate eventually broke the wire and I got bit pretty good. I replaced the wire with braided cable. If you have Fiberglas cab and all that you need to make sure everything is grounded. Ground everything. Frame to cab, engine to frame, radios, amps, meters everything.
