i have a galaxy 99 that when turned on will not key up will not hear you cant the channel or band after a while tho it will start to work perfect sometimes for days at a time then it will start the same stuff again...oh and when you first turn it on the freq counter shows 24 mhz and slowly climbs to somewhere up in the 26 mhz and acts like i stated above.has anyone came across this before?

Locate the 10.240mhz crystal labeled X1 on the main pc board.
It's the only crystal completely surrounded in wax and is stamped 10.240 on the side.
Once you find X1 you'll need to located both leads of the crystal on the solder side of the board.
Then unsolder the two leads and make sure the leads stick up far enough above the pads.
Then resolder the leads and test again.
If that doesn't work try replacing the crystal with a new Galaxy DX replacement 10.240mhz crystal, not a generic copy.

i was coming back to say ifigured it out and saw your reply and your dead on.i used a pencil with aeraser on the end and used the eraser to press on the solder side of the board and thats where the problem was i resolderd the conections and is works fine now.thanks for the reply.if i wouldnt have beenlucky and found it you woulda had me all fixed up.thanx again.
