OK. You know how the IMAX has the option to add a GPK? And this GPK has 4 radials that screw into a hub? OK, I wanted to put a quick release (Twist and turn) on each radial. I know this will increase the length of each radial by about 4 inches. My question is will this affect performance? SWR's? would it be bad? Thanks.

Because I had planned on using it in/on my van with the IMAX..And I didn't want to have to always screw each of the four 6 foot radials everytime..But scratch that idea anyway.... I forgot, my van roof can be the Ground plane.

But here is another question. If I put a quick release on the top section of the IMAX (You know, the last skinny whip on top (The last 3rd of the antenna)), would putting a quick release mess my SWR's to the point that I can't tune them with the ring? Or would the rings allow me to tune to compensate for the extra 4 inches? Again, I am doing this so when taking apart and putting together the antenna for mobile use it's quick and easy. yes, I am serious. Thanks.

well in theroy lething the antenna should change
the swrs it would probaly raise ch.1 on swr.but
id think that ya could balance it all out with the tuning rings.if ya got acess to a mfj 259
anylizer try it out see what happens.i recommend a anlyzer cause i dont know how high it will
raise your swrs maybe a lot then again maybe only slightly i dont know

833 is right, it won't make any difference. But I say, it won't make a difference because these GPK elements on the A99 don't have much if any current flowing in them anyway.

Adding the quick disconnect to the top section of your Imax will change the tuning a little. But, trimming 4 inches off the top of the f-glass whip will make it a wash.
