I need to know if this has automatic band switching? will it work from 1.8 to 30 mhz? I want to run a Yaesu FT-817 with it.

Looks to be automatic but you better watch your input. 1-4 watts and with an HF rig, it would be real easy to smoke that amp!

The Yaesu FT-817 only puts out 5 watts max on all bands

Yes, the amp has automatic band switching and I am running it with an FT-847 without problems, just reduce the input power appropriately.
I also put a fan on the amp to help keep it cool.
I have received good audio reports and run it easy, but can get about 600 watts pep on high output setting(SSB). Usually, 400 watts is sufficient power output
