The best mic that gives full modulation is the stock mic. Only other Mic is a DM-452. All others lowers the 257's Modulation.

Rev,
After a few e-mails between myself and Sam Lewis i have been informed that there are two sizes of mic's for the 257/357. If like me you have bear claws instead of hands, the stock mic for the Delta/Omega force are the same mic as for 257/357 just in a bigger case. As soon as i have relieved some of the damage to my mastercard i will be be procuring the larger one for my 357. Bonus is you don't have to worry about batteries. This is in no way taking anything away from the DM 452. Just thought you would want to keep the Magnum name on the mic.

I tried the Delta Force mic after I got it working and everyone tells me that it has a hollow sound and not as good sounding as 257 mic.

Several of the Magnum Radios have Specific Microphones that were designed to work with a specific radio and give that radio 100% modulation during operation of that radio.

Examples:

Magnum Mini Mag Microphone,

The microphone that comes with the Mini Mag is designed to give the Mini Mag 100% maximum performance and was not designed to work at 100% with any other Magnum Radios.

Magnum 257 & Magnum 357 Microphone,

Again this microphone was designed to be used with the Magnum 257 & 357 radios only to give the 257 & 357 100% maximum performance & modulation and was not designed to work at 100% with any other Magnum Radios.

Magnum S-3200B & Magnum S-9-175,

Again this Stock microphone is designed to work with these 2 radios only to give them 100% maximum performance and 100% modulation and was not designed to work at 100% with any other Magnum Radios.

Note!

While any mic can be adapted or used with most any radio many of the Magnum Factory Microphones have specific features related to the Magnum Radio they were designed for, and many have components that were designed to work with a specific Magnum radio to offer the user 100% clear modulation & maximum performance from that radio.

Hope this help's,

I have tried a DM452, several Diesel, Kenwood M60A, Astatic 575-M6, RK-56, Astatic 636,Northstar, Barjan and they tell me that the mike that came with 257 sounds the best.
