been going crazy trying to match my Dak lX up with a mic.what have you had the best experiance with. seems what ever use it still sound like a stock mic or just plain ol'e muffled. it is totaly a dud with the turners. radio has good watts and swing but the audio is not there no real punch. just flat. |

A Turner Plus Three should work great with this radio, at least it did on mine. Another good mic to try on this radio is a Astatic Silver K Eagle! |

is the K eagle the Knight Eagle. it seems that that Knight Eagle talks great on any radio its on. is there that much difference between the knight Eagle and the other D104's also maybe my Plus three is dying but it made me sound way too muffled on the Dak. do the elements go bad after years of use my Plus Three is over 30 years old. i am old neanderthall when it comes to radio equipment love the stuff from the 70's |

The Silver & Night Eagle are a little different than the Silver K & Night K Eagle, they use a little different board in them. If you have a Silver or Night Eagle you can try one and see how it does. Yes the the Silver & Night Eagles are different than the D104. The element might have went bad in your Turner Plus Three, it happens with a lot of microphones that old! |

the elements in the turner +3's are a ceramic element, and not nearly as susceptible to wearing out as the crystal elements in the D104's are. thats not to say that it cant happen, but generally, the turner elements are pretty rugged. if you need another; just find out the impedance of the stock element, and buy a replacement ceramic mic element that will fit and has an applicable frequency response. (needs to cover 50-10,000 Hz) is the modulation limiter intact in that radio? those old PLL02A rigs are notorious for sounding awful once the AMC is cut or disabled in any way. put it back to stock, give it a good alignment, and put either a D104 or a turner mic on it. (make sure the battery is new!)LOL you will like it, matt |
