I have had a problem with the lo power pot VR16 on my VR9000, it will not adjust in any way shape,or form. It has the proper resistance and changes as you adjust it,but it has no voltage to it. I checked the hi power and it has 8.8 volts going to it. Any ideas?

Well, frankly, when I did the Neg Peak mod on my VR9000, I, too, noticed that VR16 had little effect when trying to adjust the low power setting as the mod instructs. I am getting about 2-2.5 watts out, AM deadkey, on low, with plenty of swing, so i have not worried about it.

Now that I'm reading that other VR9000 owners have also noticed the same thing, maybe this is something that should be looked into.

How about it 307 or Tech181? Can either of you find out why VR16 on the VR9000 doesn't seem to adjust the low power setting as the mod in question says it should? Could this mean that there is a "glitch" in the mod itself?

Thanks,

Harpoonman

Hey 307 or 181,,do either of you know what function tr53 performs? I did some tracing of the line for vr16 on the voyage and am not sure how to test this properly without popping it, but from what I can see may be the only culprit that is in line with the vr16.There are a few capacitors but none of them look fried.I don`t think the NPC had anything to do with the low power pot,as it to the best of my knowledge only raises the voltage to the finals.I think with my low power dead key only being 1/2 watt it is robbing me of some power overall, granted it may not be much, but every little bit helps. This is the only thing I can figure that would stop voltage from getting to the pot.Any ideas or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

I am beginning to wonder what it is myself. The VR9000 has the ept360014c board, the connex 3300 HP ZX has the ept360014b, VR16 in the connex is low power, and from what I saw the 2 boards are practically identical. I may be way off on this but from what I can see they are the exact same board with the exception of the adio limiter routing, the C board is routed to R249, the B is routed to R238. And the 2 variable pots on the C board just below VR16,VR13 are not present on the B board.I tried adjusting the 2 that are below the hi power and they did not change the power.I wish there was a site that had the EPT boards listed and the adjustment locations, or if someone has a EPT360014C board they could post the variable alignments.

In the tune up specs. for the eagle 2000 it says vr16 is low power pot,but again it is not,it is cw monitor.Check your vr-9000 for a cw key jack most if not all 10-meter radios have one and if there is a small board inboard of the rf-power control the low power pot is right there, on mine it is rv-803 it may be different on yours.please respond,I would like to know if I'm right or taking a swim.
