swamper105, i think there is a cap in this radio, that if it goes bad, you will have no ssb transmit. i will check my refernce material when i get home tonight. check back in a day or two.

ok, im not done looking yet, but here's something to get you started.
in these radios, there are a mess of electrolytic capacitors that are rated at 10 volts. these are all used in circuits using less than that, but these are still the most likely parts to fail due to age. look near the rear right corner of the radio. (radio facing you, right side up)
just in front of VR12 (AMC) you will see a group of elec. caps. using a flashlight, look closely at each one. make a note of any that are 10volts, and buy 16volt or higher replacements. dont bother checking them, just replace them. you could replace ALL of the elec. caps, but this is pretty time consuming.
replace C18 first. see if this fixes your problem. next, try C95. i'll post more as i find them. also, look at TR41, its probably a 2SC1419. these are junk, replace it with an NTE152 and dont spare the heat sink compound.
let me know how its going.

Sounds like it's past time for me to write up the "Ten-Volt Blues" web page. A handful of specific caps will shut down 1) all transmit, 2) transmit audio only (am and ssb), 3) receiver audio, but not transmit audio, and 4) makes SSB transmit choppy and AM transmit weak, both at once.

This problem isn't on that list, unfortunately.
