Got a galaxy 44 that has no signal receive/audio. The radio keys up fine and has output audio, but I can't hear a radio transmit right next to it-no signal either. Anyone have any ideas. Much thanks, Hooty |

Well the first place I would look would be the audio chip. Unless this is a brand new radio and then I'd get a bright light and a magnifying glass and start looking for bad solder joints.
If the radio keys but no modulation, check the big transistor next to the power plug, the 2SB754 piece. Of course you could check your driver and final and see how they are. These are the FIRST places I would start looking. There is a diode next to IC 1 that I would check also, I think it's D7 but I am not sure without going outside and opening the radio. This diode controls the incoming signal in terms of gain. Check it out, maybe even swap out another diode if you don't have a way to test it. Use a 1N4148/1N914 diode just to see.
You may want to start checking from where the signal comes into the radio. Follow it until you loose it and most likely that is where your problem will be. |

If you haven't found it yet. Check I believe TR 17, I think that's the right number but it''s been a while since I've been inside of one. With the face toward you it's like top left side next to a adjustable coil that's usually plastic on the outside. Should be a 2sc 1674.

i think that there is an electrolytic capacitor in the glaxy radios that will kill all recieve if it goes. check around the PLL and clarifier circuit, i dont know the part number.
