Ive had several of these things in the past and I've found a common problem with the bias voltage being just a tad low with 3 out of every 5 in my exudrance and a quick fix isa 100k ohm resistor added in parallel to the existing resistor already in the bias circuit will allow this ad203 to perform identically as the kl203 or kl203p minus the preamp

There seems to be a fairly common problem with these right out of the box having low output or noneat all. I've had 2 that wouldnt do anything and to fix both of them was change the resistor controlling the bias voltage is being cut down too much. Find the right resistor that will bri g the bias voltage to about 3.5 volts on both and they work awesome and doing all the power as a kl-203 would.

50W unmodulated AM carrier output would actually be an indication of seriously overdriving an amp rated for 100-150W PEP output. Non-linearity, clipping and spurious emissions will result. An amplifier rated at 100W PEP output should not be driven to to more than 25W unmodulated carrier output in AM mode, assuming 100% modulation. The PEP output of the amp in AM mode is 4× the average carrier output power.

This Puts Out ONLY 50 WATTS MAX In AM Mode without Generating BAD Harmonics..Will Put Out around 65 to 70 Watts in Upper & Lower Side Band Modes... 1 & 1/2 to a 2 WATT DEAD KEY is the BEST.. OVER a 3 Watt Dead Key it starts to Drive Backwards RMS Reading on My BIRD METER But Still Drives Forward on PEP Reading on My BIRD METER ..with a 1 & 1/2 Watt Dead Key with a 20 to 25 Watt Audio Swing WORKS BEST ...
