Is it better to not have your Bare foot or can it be tuned up a little? First time user with a heater

This unit uses a sd1446 bipolar Rd transistor. One is enough to get over the noise for improvement in tx capabilities. Getting over the noise and being heard is all that's needed. Good quality coax feedline and a good performance antenna combined with a decent cb radio with clean clear tx audio will get the job done. 4 foot fiberglass whip antennas do well with a unit like this. 73 and this is a good value bang for the buck amp. I have had mine 10+ years now and it still works. Don't over drive it and it will live a long time and serve you well.

It's an ok little amp using a sd1446 semiconductor final. It's a bit tougher than the mosfet type. Don't overdrive it or operate into high swr load keep conversation short and it will do a decent job. Antenna is everything in either base or mobile. Use good quality coax too. I bought one of these about a month ago, and I am definitely pleased with the KL-200P. I bought this one, even though it is about $20 more expensive than the 203P, it has the bipolar transistor, and not the mosfets. The bipolar transistor puts out more average (RMS) watts, and is cleaner than the mosfet finals. It puts out about 160 watts PEP out of my mobile, and has talked from Finland, to Greece, to Botswana, to Uruguay, to New Zealand. Close to 100 International contacts, sometimes even without propagation working for me, all from New Jersey, using a President Lincoln ll +, with a President digital handheld mic, and a Wilson 5000 magnet mount antenna with the ground plane kit. With a 3 watt carrier, swinging to 45, it works perfectly. Most of my contacts congratulate me for doing such a good job from a mobile. All clean reports. Make sure you get an RM Italy, and not one of the other knock-off brands. I like it so much that I bought an RM Italy KL-305 HD.
