Astatic AST-878DM Desk Mic

Just received the Astatic desk mic and shipping was a fast 2 days and packed fairly well so arrived in perfect condition. I bought this mic to use on an Alinco SR-8T H.F. rig while I restore my Turner SSK. In the mean time I tested the mic as pre-wired on my Uniden Bearcat 880. Initially it seemed the PTT was not doing anything but after a few presses of the bar it began working as it should. Using the talk back feature of the 880 I could hear the audio quality of the mic was loud, crisp and clear. "Had to turn down the talk back". Next I made several local contacts on a few channels and got good reports on the sound of the mic. Next will be the test of time to see how the mic holds up and I will probably build an adapter to use it on the Alinco and preserve the ability to continue to use the mic with 4 pin CB radios.

great microphone good loud smooth modulation just as good as turner astatic d104,or silver eagle and I have them all.

I've had three of these and after a while they start scratching when you key up . The switch inside is JUNK... Other than that it is a great mike ..If they would replace that with a quality switch. That would be great....

I have 2 of these, one on my Ranger 2980 and the other on my Cobra 2000, and I also use it on my Cherokee CBS 1000. For a plastic unit, it is well made and strong. As far as performance, I like it better than my turner plus 3 and equal with a D104. My radios sound great with this mic, very clear and loud!

Had it two years now. Still Love it.
