Ranger RCI 29 10 Meter Base

The good: Great receive, great transmit audio, just right size radio, not too big not too small, great selection of controls. Ac\Dc ( see bad below) The Bad : (Now there is a work-around for this issue) The biggest problem is its power supply it’s a 80 watt radio and has a 14 amp power supply. It was sent back twice and was returned with a new power supply but it does not correct the issue, it’s too small. Works fine on AM but sideband it transmits nothing that can be recognized. If you plan on AM only it’s fine but if sideband is going to be used you’ll need to run it on DC and use a 30 amp supply and it’s fine. I’m going to convert a HP server supply and put it in ( 38 amp) But shame on Ranger they knew better and it’s dropped $250 in price , this is why. Great radio except power supply is too small.
