I was planning a car trip where my friends & I would be in 3 different vehicles. I use a Uniden 980SSB, but I thought it would be too easy for my friends to turn the wrong knob or push the wrong button. I purchased two Uniden 505's for the other cars. I chose the 505 because of the simplicity of operation. I was expecting mediocre performance from them. I was amazed at just how well they worked. I teamed them up with Wilson 500 antennae. Car to car we spoke at great distances, (10+ Mike's) with no problems. For the money these are a fantastic value.
